After building a successful fleet of salmon seiners, Sam wanted a unique vessel to run the LeClercq family up to Desolation Sound for their summer vacations. The boat had to be fast, and look distinctive. Since he had been working with famed NW designer William Garden most of his life, he chose a hull that had been designed for Orin Edson and put the LeClercq touches on her.
So the LeClercq personal yacht, named Mollie after his daughter, was carefully constructed by his crew. She's about 73' LOA, and sports twin MAN 1000hp turbodiesels with Arnesen surface drives. She gets to Desolation Sound pronto!
The aft deck area is open for lounging just above water level for swimming and leisure, and there's even a small hot tub to relax in while planning the next boatbuilding projects.
This is a finely-constructed yacht, very light for her size, and serves as a purpose-built high speed vacation transport, replete with rooster-tail! She is visually striking when she emerges from her boathouse, one of my all-time favorite boats.
